NJ Rocky Con
August 3rd - 6th 2023!
COVID-19 POLICY:
EXTERNAL
Given we are not professionally qualified on the issue, and given widespread opinions within the community on managing the issue, we have looked for guidance from the CDC as more qualified and objective than we in FNS can be. According to the CDC, the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency expired on May 11, 2023, bringing an official end to the emergency phase of the pandemic. The CDC is shifting from an emergency response to incorporating COVID-19 activities into sustainable public health practice. We will continue to monitor them and will adjust safeguards as necessary per their guidance. On a local level, we will take guidance from the New Jersey department of health regarding local conditions.
VACCINATION
Vaccination is a requirement for FNS cast members and anyone else working the con in direct contact with con attendees. Beyond us, we strongly encourage COVID-19 vaccination for everyone who is eligible, but it is not a requirement.
TESTING for COVID-19
In order to mitigate risk, we require:
-
ALL con attendees test from home the day-of or day leaving for the con. Pictures of test results will be shown at registration.
-
ALL performers again test day-of from their homes or rooms before re-entering any designated dressing room areas for performances. Limited tests will be available, please plan to bring additional tests if you are cast.
-
In order to ensure the issue is not forgotten, we will have public threads in the FB Social group and performance groups asking people to report their tests.
FACE MASKS
While face masks will be optional, we demand a mask-respected environment. This option will shift to mandatory if state or local law changes (currently they are not at the con hotel).
In order to mitigate risk, we require masks if you are currently symptomless, but:
-
you tested positive after the onset of COVID-19 illness within 10 days of the con
-
someone in close contact to you has tested positive at or within 5 days of the con
MANAGING POSITIVE TESTS
DO NOT ATTEND THE CON if:
-
you test positive the day-of leaving to the con
-
you have any contagious symptoms (COVID-19, cold, flu) even if testing negative
-
you are symptomless but have still have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus within 5 days before the con
*we will fully refund con tickets for these cases*
ISOLATE AT THE CON and report to everyone in close contact if:
-
You tested positive while at the con even if asymptomatic
-
You are not testing positive but you develop contagious symptoms (COVID-19, cold, flu)
PLEASE REPORT ANY POSITIVE TEST RESULTS TO: Nancy Maglione
We thank you for your cooperation in keeping our convention as safe as possible.
